Heritage Fair Projects are due TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's pretty much all I have to say, Heritage Fair projects are due today (unless you gave me a "Gimme a Break" card, then your project is due Monday!)

I'm so excited about the projects I've seen so far!!!!!!!!!!

Humanities 8
All research should be done by now. Notes are all marked and handed back. Bibliographies and written summaries were due today....I'm missing a lot of summaries!

**I went to Staples last night and picked up 10 display boards. If students wish to purchase these from me they can, the recycled brown ones are $10.48 (incl tax) and the black or white ones are $13.63 (incl tax).**

Humanities 8
Today we completed our research for the Soldier notes. Notes are due tomorrow! We will work on our displays next week.

B/F block touched up their memoirs as well in class today.

We should have 16 vocab words done by now. We looked at some photos as an overview of The Great War and Chapter 2. Then we headed to the lab to work on our Heritage Fair projects, which are due on Friday, Feb 26th.

Heritage Fair Mania!!!!!!!!!

Humanities 8
Today B/F block was in the classroom where we discussed the article, "Is the Holocaust Unique?" Good conversations, tough subject.

D/H were in the lab making breakthrough after breakthrough on our research on our soldiers. Well done.

Reminder: Soldier notes are due FRIDAY!

We headed to the lab to continue our research....which is going well. Mr Fussell joined us for a little pep talk and conferencing.

Chapter 2 vocab 1-16 should be done by now.

Happy Flag Day!

Humanities 8
Today we read an article, "Is the Holocaust Unique?", which discusses other genocides that have happened in the world in the past and recent past (Rwanda). We discussed the big question, IS the Holocaust Unique?

We had our chapter 1 test today, quick and easy. Then we started chapter 2, all about "The Great War". I showed a small introduction/overview of the war with a Youtube video created with Lego. Very interesting! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLZWVG2BVIc

Today was our last Literature Circle and our last Reading Response (#4) was due today. I showed students some slides of the soldier I researched before I went to Belgium and France 2 summers ago.

We hit the lab again to do more research. I'm so impressed with the level of research and passion that is happening in this class. Yay team!

We researched in room 400 today! We found a tonne of great stuff on our soldiers. We should be wrapping up research this week and move on to synthesizing our information into our displays.

We had our literature circle #3 today. Lots of great discussions. Reading Response was due today.

We started chapter 1 with some vocabulary and notes. I just want to see where the kids are at right now with how they make notes.

We had our writing workshop today, fixing up those memoirs so they are exciting to read.

We focused on Heritage Fairs mostly this class as I was at a fantastic film with the Environment Club for the film fest. It's a great film called Garbage Dreams.

We spent some time in the computer lab researching information on our soldiers. Some great progress has been made already. This project is due February 26th!

I'm so excited to have this crew of keen students to work with. It's going to be a fantastic semester. We created life sized pictures of a "stereotypical" Canadian, complete with igloos and maple syrop.

Research!!!! Students are permitted to miss Humanities in order to go to a museum in town with their parents. Just bring a note to school and check out in the office.

I am Canadian! Some trivia, some funny Rick Mercer moments...it's all good. Oh, and we're starting a HUGE project...it'll be due Feb 26 and we can win cash-money with these projects. Go team!
