Monday, January 18

Humanities 8
Today we got our Soldier Files for our Heritage Fair projects. Very interesting reading, it's quite the puzzle to put together.

We had the Chapter 7,8,9 test today.

Tuesday, January 19

Humanities 8
We went over a timeline of the Holocaust today so we can see where our novels fit into history.

FNS 12
We brainstormed answers to possible essay questions on big poster paper. The Provincial exam is looming!

Wednesday, January 20

Humanities 8
We went over the soldier biography research list today. Lots of info to find. We also reviewed our Reading Response #1 and the feedback I gave each student. Reading Response #2 is due tomorrow!

FNS 12
We did a practice exam online to prepare for that darn Provincial Exam....most students did pretty well! Keep studying and reviewing!

Extra Help Times Before Term 2 Report Cards

Students have been asking if they can improve their marks...and of course I say, "Yes!" So, I've made myself available for some lunch hours and one day after school to help students before report cards are due. I'm missing some important meetings to make myself available, so PLEASE come in for help! Here's my schedule for extra help:

We worked on our Europe maps and Holocaust terms, these are due Tuesday

We reviewed the first part of chapter 8. Chapter 8 notes were due today. I forms were handed out today.

Tuesday, January 12

Humanities 8
We had some excellent discussions about our novels, why we're studying the Holocaust, German words in our novels. We also looked at the numbers of murders at 10 different concentration camps in Europe, not a pleasant topic, but we need to get a grasp on the numbers.

We played FNS trivia for prizes...and to study for the Provincial Exam. Jordan was the big winner today! We also finished reviewing Chapter 8.

Wednesday, January 13

Humanities 8
We went step by step on how to put together our Reading Responses. For the most part everyone seemed to have something to say about their books. I'm looking forward to reading these tomorrow!

We started preparing for our debate on Friday...which of the 4 precedent setting court cases had the most effect on First Nations people of BC?

Happy New year everyone. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Here's the update from the Kingdom of Fun.

Monday, January 4

Humanities 8
We had a great discussion about our background knowledge on our new unit, the Holocaust. Lots of interest in this subject, it's going to be an intense few months.

We discussed Residential Schools and watched a short documentary and a clip from "Rabbit Proof Fence".

Tuesday, January 5

Humanities 8
I went over the marking criteria and expectations for the novel study we are starting shortly.

FNS 12
We started Chapter 7. Chapter 7 notes are due Wednesday. I'm combining Chapters 7, 8, 9 on one test at the end of Chapter 9. We are almost done the term!

Wednesday, January 6

Humanities 8
D/H block got a book talk on the novels they will be choosing from and assigned on Friday. This group started the "Holocaust Terms", they are due tomorrow in class.

B/F block finished their "Holocaust Terms" and started maps of Europe.

Today students made flashcards of questions that will help them study for the Provincial Exam. They also started notes on Chapter 8.
