We are embracing our research about Aboriginal People of Canada, pre-contact.  I have sent the class back in time to 100 years before contact through my classroom cupboard time machine, they should be home in time for dinner.  We will be having lots of guest speakers coming, so stay tuned.

Update

Humanities 9
We finished the Canadian Geography unit yesterday, although we will still be using the information we learned in the next few units we are stydying.  We had our unit test yesterday as well, some great results!

We are now studying Aboriginal people in Canada BEFORE contact.  In the next week or so, students will be working on a vocabulary list and notes on the Aboriginal people in Canada pre-contact.  I have arranged for a number of guest speakers to come in and talk about Aboriginal food, shelter, clothing, cooking, dog sledding (hopefully), medicine.  We are working towards a very cool project where I send my students back in time to study an Aboriginal group before contact.  It's going to be great!

Corn Roast Success!

What a great morning! We had a celebration of the 9s this morning in A block, playing in the field and eating roasted corn. Good fun! All of us teachers wanted to celebrate the 9s, what a great bunch they are this year.

Humanities 9 update:
Family dinner stories are overdue now...still a few haven't been handed in. "Who do you think you are" mind maps are also overdue now (due yesterday). We have started the Canadian Geography unit. There is no homework this weekend!

SS11 update:
Chapter 1 is done and reviewed. Great results on the Chapter 1 test. We just need to work on our writing responses. This class is super engaged, great thinking and analysis. If questions 1-6 are done on the Chapter 2 (WWI) review package as well as the vocabulary, there is NO HOMEWORK this weekend! You're welcome.

Have a super weekend!

Still in a fog

I'm still feeling like my brain is on summer holidays, even though my body is at school. Slowly we will all get into the swing of things again and before we know it, Winter break will be here!

Humanities 9 update
Memes were due yesterday, we all had a good chuckle over them and it was great to get to know everyone in class.  There is no homework for tonight!  Make sure you have good reading material for Silent Reading though.

Chapter 1 test is on Monday.  You must also hand in your Chapter 1 Review Sheet (vocabulary and questions) and your Chapter 1 crossword.  This is a great class, full of "chatters".  We'll have to have lots of class discussions and debates.
